assistant professor jiu song of the school of economics and management of southwest jiaotong university published a paper entitled integrating anticipative replenishment allocation with reactive fulfillment for online retailing using robust optimization in utd 24 journal - manufacturing & service operations management in october 2020.
this paper studies the collaborative optimization of multi-period inventory replenishment, allocation, and order fulfillment of online retailers under conditions of uncertain demand. considering the fixed replenishment cost and unknown demand distribution, it innovatively proposes two stages based on robust optimization solving algorithm. the first stage uses a goal-oriented robust optimization method to solve the optimal static binary replenishment variables, and the second stage uses linear criteria to dynamically adaptively make decisions about replenishment, allocation and performance, thereby avoiding the computational complexity of adaptive binary variables . a large number of numerical experiments show that the algorithm is superior to the existing multi-stage mixed integer robust optimization methods in the literature in terms of solution quality and calculation time, and it can obtain near-optimal solutions faster for large-scale problems. a case study was carried out using actual operating data of a fashion online retailer in singapore, and the results showed that the implementation of this algorithm can effectively reduce the company's operating costs by about 30% under the existing strategy.
utd 24 journals are the top 24 academic journals of business schools selected by the university of texas at dallas, covering the main majors of general university business schools. this list is widely recognized by major universities in the world, and is generally used as the main basis for business school rankings, promotion of business teacher titles, and various projects and talent plan reviews.
